Brynna Woods will provide an enchanting backdrop to your daily life; the wooded valleys, open glades and green pastures support a huge range of wildlife habitats, perfect for animal lovers. Follow the paths of the streams that meander through the woods or just luxuriate in the sights and sounds of the flora and fauna.

A preliminary study by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales puts forward their proposals for the maintenance and enhancement of this natural habitat. The largely deciduous wood supports a variety of rare and protected species and the ongoing management, whilst evolutionary and adaptable in nature, will improve the habitat for the existing wildlife and will plan to encourage the migration of species from the surrounding areas.

Intrinsic to the plans is the introduction of benches and gates, improved access to the ponds and streams whilst upgrading safety for visitors. Coppicing will play an important role to encourage new growth and expose the denser woodlands to enhance the wildlife habitat. The otter, badger and dormouse are all protected and are confirmed resident within the woods, whilst the emerald damselfly and golden-ringed dragonfly represent two of the more colourful six-legged creatures recorded here.

A new outdoor classroom close to Brynnau Primary School is promoting the involvement of the younger community in this exciting project.
